WELCOME TO THE TOWN OF KINGSTON ASSESSOR'S OFFICE
The Primary Responsibilities for the Assessor’s office are to:
- Provide fair and equitable assessments for each Town of Kingston property
- Maintain up-to-date information on each property (style, size, year built, ownership)
- Administer exemptions; wholly exempt, veterans, business improvement, age, disability, existing STAR, other NYS mandated exemptions
- Appear at the Assessment Board of Review along with resident Board Members on the Annual Grievance Day

SCHEDULE
March 1st: Taxable Status Date
Property is valued according to its ownership and condition as of this date. All exemption applications must be filed with the Assessor’s Office.
May 1st: Tentative Roll Filed
A tentative listing of all assessments is completed and filed by the Assessor, beginning the formal grievance period.
5th Wednesday in May: Grievance Day
The date when the Board of Assessment Review meets to hear complaints on tentative assessments, concluding the Grievance period. All grievance applications must be filed.
July 1st : Valuation Date
All properties are valued according to the real estate market as of this date for each assessment roll.
