WELCOME TO THE TOWN OF KINGSTON TOWN BOARD
According to Section 60 of NYS Town Law, the Town Board, as the executive body of the town, acts as a unit and must function as a collective body. It is comprised of 4 Town Council members and the Town Supervisor. Each member has one vote.
Town Councilpersons have by state statute a term of office of four years. The term of office of Town Supervisor is 2 years in the Town of Kingston.
Election of members of the Town Board is normally staggered, so that the whole Town Board will not be due for election in the same year.
Town Board meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday and Workshop meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7pm at the Town of Kingston Town Hall. Any changes to the schedule will be noticed electronically on the Town of Kingston website, Town of Kingston Facebook page, and posted at Town Hall.
SUPERVISOR
The Supervisor serves as the chief financial officer, responsibilities include:
- Manage the fiscal matters of the town
- Prepare a tentative budget for the Town Board's approval
- Ensure each department is prudent in their spending and within budget
- Keep an accurate and complete account of town funds
- Prepare monthly and annual financial reports for the Town Board
- Preside over Town Board meetings
- Serve as Emergency Management Director
